LMU Contemporary Issues 2020 includes these five courses:
Introduction to Medical Coding
This course will teach the learner how to define and recognize different medical coding systems used throughout the healthcare system with an emphasis on pathology and laboratory medicine. Additionally, the learner will be able to ascertain which medical coding systems are used in his or her workplace.
Recognizing the Differences between Accreditation Providers: CLIA, CAP, & Joint Commission
The operation of clinical laboratories is strictly regulated. In order for laboratories to perform and report patient testing they need to go through an approved accreditation program. This course will guide the learner in determining the best option for their laboratory review toward obtaining laboratory accreditation.
Improving Efficiency to Respond to Laboratory Workforce Shortage
This course will inform the learner about the current state of the laboratory workforce and key reasons for a continued shortage of laboratory professionals, and also introduce ideas for identifying inefficiencies in the lab and steps that can be used for developing a plan to achieve greater productivity even during a workforce shortage.
Employee Satisfaction and Retention: Best Practices for Retaining the Clinical Laboratory Workforce
