· describe the clinical presentation of a patient with splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL);
· describe the spectrum of morphologic features of SMZL cells seen in peripheral blood and bone marrow smears;
· discuss the immunophenotype of SMZL;
· discuss the differential diagnosis of SMZL; and
· discuss the prognosis of patients with SMZL.
