The Paul Farmer Lecture of the 2022 Annual Meeting is presented by Dana Powell Baker, EdD, MBA, MS, MLS(ASCP)^CMfrom the Association of Public Health Laboratories. In honor of the life and legacy of Dr. Paul Farmer, this inaugural lecture will focus on "making public health matter" by addressing the importance of health equity and social justice in our communities. Lived experiences and historical references will be shared to reflect where intersectionality with race and public health has led to advocacy for more humane practices in healthcare.

Racism as a public health crisis
Social determinants of health and their historic roots
Environmental injustice
Access to clean water and food
A call to action – to reimagine equity
