Description:

 

While the majority of work in the Blood Bank is routine, you will occasionally find complex or challenging cases that will require specialized investigation and techniques to solve.  This course will present several case studies to review serologic findings, laboratory techniques, and transfusion management of patients presenting with various laboratory challenges.

 

 

After attending this session, participants will be able to:

 

·        Describe serologic findings and transfusion requirements for patients with alloantibodies.

·        Describe serologic findings and laboratory techniques for managing ABO discrepancies.

·        Describe serologic findings and transfusion requirements for patients presenting with hemolytic disease of the fetus/newborn.

·        Describe transfusion requirements and serologic findings for patients experiencing hemolytic transfusion reactions.
