Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
- identify cytologic features of colorectal adenocarcinoma on fine-needle aspiration smears and morphologic features of colorectal adenocarcinoma with high-level microsatellite instability;
- apply a coordinated cytokeratin 7/cytokeratin 20 (CK7/20) immunophenotypic profile in the workup of carcinoma of unknown primary;
- analyze an aberrant CK7/20 immunophenotypic profile in colorectal and many other mucinous or intestinal-type adenocarcinomas; and
- approach the differential diagnosis of mucinous or intestinal-type adenocarcinomas of unknown primary with additional marker studies and clinical and imaging correlations.
