This course will provide an introduction to hemoglobin electrophoresis, describe hemoglobin variants, and enable participants to confidently interpret hemoglobin electrophoresis and understand the clinical significance of common hemoglobinopathies.
After attending this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand normal hemoglobin structure and function.
- Understand the clinical significance of common variant hemoglobins.
- Describe methods of performing hemoglobin electrophoresis.
- Interpret Hg electrophoresis for common hemoglobinopathies.
