LMU Contemporary Issues: Lab Lessons and Updates

LMU Contemporary Issues: Lab Lessons and Updates, a new member of ASCP’s Lab Management University educational product family, is designed to keep lab managers and supervisors informed on the latest critical information affecting medical laboratory operations and management. Five courses are available upon enrolling, with the course subject matter updated annually. Each course provides 1 CME credit hour, for a total of 5 CME credits. The courses will not be included in the LMU certificate products. The content design mimics the LMU Fundamentals and LMU Advanced products format. Participants must pass each course with an 80% or better to immediately earn 1 CME/CMLE credit.

There will be discussion of the motivations for implementing AI and the barriers to its implementation.

LMUCI2203: Moving From the Bench to a Laboratory Leadership Position: Lessons Learned

There is always a need for quality laboratory leaders, however, many feel unprepared when they make the leap from the bench to a supervisory position and costly mistakes are often made. This course will assist the student in preparing for common pitfalls that new and existing laboratory leaders face on a regular basis. Specific topics that will be covered included proper delegation, effective time management skills, the difference in the supervisory role and transition tips, and the responsibility to grow new laboratory leaders.

LMUCI2204: New for 2022: Pathology Coding Changes, Rules Updates, and Current Legal Issues

Get the latest updates on CPT and ICD-10-CM coding that are of most interest to pathology practices and independent laboratories for 2022. Additionally, explore the latest legal challenges that involve health care providers concerning hot topics such as Telehealth services, the Cures Act requirements and payer coverages for COVID-19 testing.

LMUCI2205: Pandemic Lessons: Utilizing Laboratory Staff In Novel Ways

This course will cover unique ways to utilize laboratory staff to accomplish testing protocols and comply with safety regulations. Developing a diversified team within the laboratory to predict supply shortfall, informatics needs and back-up protocols are critical for emergent situations such as the recent pandemic experience.
