Co-Infections – Respiratory Viruses

On completion of this exercise, the participant should be able to:

•     explain the diseases and symptoms associated with common respiratory virus infections, including implications for viral coinfections;

•     discuss the epidemiology of common respiratory viruses responsible for coinfections, including prevalence, seasonal patterns, risk factors, and modes of transmission;

•     compare the advantages and limitations of the different test methods for diagnosis of respiratory virus infections;

•     describe the patient treatment strategies for respiratory virus coinfections; and

•     describe infection prevention strategies for respiratory viruses.
