Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
· describe the life cycle of Cryptococcus species, and most common routes of infection for primary and secondary organ systems;
· identify risk factors for infection with Cryptococcus species;
· describe the different approaches needed to diagnose cryptococcal infections and limitations of current assays; and
· discuss the different therapies for cryptococcal infections.
