Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:

·         identify preferred draw sites for blood collection;

·         readily assess the patient’s clinical presentation to avoid unacceptable draw sites; 

·         identify best alternative draw sites when preferred sites are compromised or unavailable; and 

·         describe effects on patient outcome when the appropriate draw site is not initially utilized.
