Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
· describe how mismatch repair (MMR) protein deficiency leads to microsatellite instability;
· discuss possible immunohistochemistry patterns seen in MMR deficiency, associated molecular results, and recommended follow-up testing;
· discuss pitfalls of MMR protein immunohistochemistry;
· explain the clinical significance of clonal loss of an MMR protein; and
compare and contrast somatically acquired and germline MMR protein deficiency.
