Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
· Describe the histopathologic characteristics of chronic villitis and diagnostic criteria;
· Outline the pathologic features that help distinguish idiopathic chronic villitis from infectious etiologies;
· Explain the clinical implications of placental infections with chronic villitis; and
· Discuss the gross and histologic features of syphilitic placentitis in addition to other TORCH (Toxoplasma, Other, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes simplex virus)-related etiologies.
