Data shows that diverse teams are >80% better at making decisions and that inclusive companies are doubly innovative. While many organizations strive to promote recruitment and retention of a diverse workplace, lack of best-practice guidelines and variability in recruitment procedures create hinderances in the diversification of our laboratories. As pathologists and laboratory professionals, what are the best practices for recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce? Our panelists will explore the challenges and opportunities of hiring with a focus on diversity and inclusion. They will describe tips and tricks to improve the hiring and retaining employees across a broad range of age, cultural background, physical abilities and disabilities, race, religion, gender, and sexual orientation.
