Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
· identify the serological markers that should be used for screening, diagnosis and monitoring Hepatitis B virus infection;
· discuss and understand the importance of the new recommendations for the serologic “triple panel” laboratory testing for HBV;
· recognize patients at risk of occult HBV infection; and
· discuss HBV reactivation and why it is a serious risk for morbidity and mortality in immunosuppressed persons.
