Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
· describe the immunophenotype of normal versus neoplastic plasma cells;
· describe the differential diagnosis of plasma cell lesions;
· describe the clinical presentation that can be seen in plasmacytomas;
· describe the histologic and immunophenotypic findings that can be seen in a plasmacytoma;
· describe the histologic and immunophenotypic findings that can be seen in plasmablastic lymphoma; and
· discuss the challenges in the diagnosis of an Epstein-Barr virus–positive plasmacytoma.
