Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
· recognize the clinical presentation of Alport syndrome and thin basement membrane lesion/nephropathy;
· describe the pathologic features of Alport syndrome and thin basement membrane lesion/nephropathy on kidney biopsy;
· discuss the components of the glomerular basement membrane and its development;
· describe associations of COL4A3-COL4A5 in other kidney diseases; and
· discuss indications for COL4A3-COL4A5 genetic testing in patients with kidney disease.
